EMERGENCY SURVEY


On 26 September 2013, a transport ship struck the bottom chord of the Mathews Bridge which crosses the St Johns River in Jacksonville, Duval County,Florida The impact was severe and the bridge, a main artery in Jacksonville, was closed for repair for approximately a month as FDOT scrambled to quickly facilitate repairs.

NOTE THE DAMAGED GUSSET, LASER SCANNER POSITION AND REPLACEMENT GUSSET MACHINED UTILIZING THE LASER SCANNER DATA.

Within hours, Arc Surveying & Mapping, Inc. mobilized to the site performing hydrographic and terrestrial laser scan surveys of the damage including 1st order leveling across the bridge, monitoring potential movement. .

Arc mobilized three survey crews to the site providing FDOT with on the job daily structural monitoring reports.

Arc and other consultants involved received letters of commendation from FDOT District II commending each for their part in helping to restore the bridge to traffic in an expedient manner.
